  1. One of the secrets of approaching someone is not to have any expectations. Many times we are afraid of being rejected or of not being liked. Everyone gets rejected — it does mean anything other than that the people are not compatible. Be ready to be rejected many times before finding someone of a like nature. Approaching someone “cold” (someone you do not know) is very challenging and like salesmen making cold calls, is 90 percent rejection.

Getting to know someone before asking them out is a good alternative to “cold calls”. Ask someone to tea or coffee. Be casual. Be comfortable.

Be safe. At first, go to public places that both of you are comfortable with.

If it seems there is mutual attraction, take a chance and ask them on a date.
